Farewell Summer

Lazy summer days are no more. As the season shifts from summer to fall, we'll miss days spent at the beach, insane tan lines from long hours at the pool and outdoor activities with friends. Before letting summer slip through our fingers, we needed to partake in an activity that is the epitome of summer--grilling. There's just something about how the burgers sizzle, the hotdogs get just the right amount of crisp and the chicken has that grilled taste that can't be replicated anywhere else.

If you want to achieve that quintessential taste of summer, use our tips on making grilled zucchini and our new favorite drink, a screwmosa.

Grilled Zucchini

Grilled Zucchini with Vinaigrette

Harder vegetables are the best for grilling. Cut zucchini, or your favorite vegetable, length-wise. Rub the zucchini in olive oil, salt and pepper. Grill the vegetable on foil over indirect heat for about five minutes on each side. When you take them off, toss them in a simple lemon vinaigrette with garlic, salt, pepper, and a mustard emulsion for a true taste of summer.

A delicious and refreshing hybrid of a screwdriver and mimosa, this drink is just what you need to get over the change of the season. Combine champagne, orange juice, and vodka to enjoy. Adjust measurements to taste (the less orange juice, the better).
